Warning Sounds That Your Vehicle Needs a Car Service

Addison Morris

Most vehicle owners will take their car for servicing on schedule to ensure that it stays in pristine condition. However, a mistake that some drivers make is ignoring signs that would indicate disrepair as they wait for their next scheduled car service. All vehicles have their own individual sounds they make over time. A seasoned driver will know what is normal, hence you may not be alarmed when your vehicle is making noises. However, there are some strange sounds that you should be wary of as they could be indicative of an underlying mechanical problem. Here are some of the strange sounds to look out for.

Whining noises emanating from the bonnet

A loosened belt usually causes this type of noise. It would be prudent to have it inspected and remedied by an auto mechanic as it could lead to other car issues such as battery problems and overheating of your vehicle.

A loud exhaust pipe

When you begin hearing loud sounds emanating from your exhaust it could mean the exhaust pipes has acquired some cracks. Left undeterred these cracks could expand and cause a large hole in your exhaust or even cause it to fall right off the vehicle.

Strange noises from the engine

Noises from the car's engine are typically detectable when the vehicle is idling. The most common reason for this is a misfiring engine, which would need to be addressed post haste. Misfiring of your engine may be caused by damaged spark plugs or a more serious condition such as inefficient mixing of air and fuel in your engine.

Metallic scraping noises

Scraping sounds emanating from your vehicle could be indicative of a broken component that is constantly scraping on other parts of the vehicle. Left unchecked this could lead to the abrading of the surfaces and further damage to the misaligned component.

Squealing sounds from the brakes

Brakes are supposed to operate inaudibly. In the event that you begin to hear squealing when you are driving your vehicle, it means the brake pads have become worn out. It would be prudent to have these replaced as it compromises your safety, as well as that of other road users.

Crunching noises from the gears

Since the gearbox works under intense conditions, it is not uncommon for it to succumb to wear and tear. However, once it does exhibit signs of disrepair, it is best to address them as soon as possible. Crunching sounds emanating from your gears typically means that some of its components will require replacing.

About Me
Improving Your Automobile

Yo! I would like to offer you a warm welcome to my blog. My name is Lauren and I would like to dedicate this blog to useful information about improving your automobile. When I was growing up, I always dreamed of owning my own car and driving around the city. However, when the day came to purchase my first car, I realised just how expensive a new auto can be! I bought a second-hand car and then set about working on it to improve how it. I taught myself how to change the oil and tune the engine. I also accessorised the car so it looks great. I hope you enjoy my blog.
